Providing free civil legal services to low-income clients in Allegany County, Maryland since 1997.   Also providing free services to people over the age of 60 in Allegany County, Maryland in priority areas of law.  Application and confirmation of eligibility required before services can be provided.

The Allegany Law Foundation was created in 1997 by members of the Bar Association of Allegany County. Allegany Law is the pro bono arm of the Bar Association.
 
Allegany Law is financially supported by the Maryland Legal Services Corporation; Human Resources Development Commission, Inc.; The Presbytery of Baltimore; donations by members of the Bar Association of Allegany County, pro bono private attorneys and the Legal Aid Bureau, Inc.
Types of cases:  Allegany Law handles civil cases, except class action cases and suits for monetary damages.  Allegany Law does not handle criminal cases.  Cases accepted for service must meet the priority areas of law approved by the Board of Directors of Allegany Law.
Income eligibility:  Low-income individuals under the age of 60..  Individuals over the age of 60, without regard to income or assets in priority areas of law.
Duplication of services: Allegany Law works in cooperation with the Legal Aid Bureau, Inc. to prevent the duplication of services.  Cases such as evictions and forecloures, domestic violence, unemployment benefits, food stamps or welfare denials should be directed to the Legal Aid Bureau, Inc. at 301-777-7474.
